10 faceless YouTube mistakes (and how to fix each one)
The mistakes that stall most new faceless channels, in the order people usually make them.
THE SHORT VERSION
- Most channels fail in setup and packaging, not in editing.
- Copying a niche is fine. Copying videos is not.
- Patience beats switching niches every two weeks.
- Picking a niche you like instead of one people watch. Fix: start from outlier data.
- Mixing topics on one channel. Fix: one niche, one audience per channel.
- Making the video before the title. Fix: title and thumbnail first.
- Long intros. Fix: deliver the hook and the payoff promise in the first 15 seconds.
- Thumbnails with too much going on. Fix: one subject, high contrast, few words.
- Mass-producing near-identical videos. Fix: fewer, better videos with real research and variety. See YouTube's AI rules.
- Misleading titles. Fix: promise only what the video delivers.
- Inconsistent uploads. Fix: a schedule you can keep for three months.
- Ignoring analytics. Fix: review every video after 48 hours and after 7 days.
- Quitting or switching too early. Fix: give a niche a fair test (a few dozen uploads) before you decide.
